Average Pre-ACT Score for Sophomores?

Hi everyone, I just finished my sophomore year and I took the pre-ACT. What's a typical score for a sophomore? I'm trying to figure out where I stand and what areas I need to improve in. Thanks!

According to official ACT data, the average Pre-ACT score for 10th graders, which I assume you are referring to when you mention sophomores, is about a 19 out of 36 possible.

However, while knowing averages can help gauge where you stand relative to others, it's crucial to bear in mind that the ultimate goal is to aim for a score that will be competitive for your desired colleges. That being said, a 'good' score is relative and depends on your individual goals and the profile of schools you aim to apply to.

Junior year is often when students start to seriously prep for the ACT, so it's okay if your score isn't where you want it yet. Identifying your weaker areas now and creating a study plan to improve on these weaker areas is an excellent step. Review your Pre-ACT report to analyze which sections were most challenging and develop strategies to improve those areas.

Remember, doing well on the ACT is about understanding the test's format and the types of questions asked. With consistent practice and study, you should see significant improvement.
