The following guidelines articulate the school’s broad expectations about the amount of time students might reasonably be expected to spend on home learning and provide a useful framework for parents. However, the precise amount of time spent on home learning is much less important than the quality of the tasks set and the way in which they are planned to support learning.

Student support

Special Educational Needs Support

In addition to the support provided by teachers, tutors and Wellbeing Team, the School employs a dedicated team of learning support professionals, trained to identify, assess and support students with special educational needs (SEN).The aim of the learning support team is to ensure all children with special educational needs are able to fully access the curriculum. In addition, it provides support for children who need short term interventions to support academic progression.

The school offers a range of opportunities through its excellence programmes and supra-curricular extension activities. In many instances this involves preparation for and entry to national and international competition, where Shrewsbury has enjoyed repeated success.

Admissions

- EY1: Observation and interview with EY1 Leader / class teacher in company of parents (1 hour approx.)
- EY2: One-to-one child assessment and discussion with parents (30 minutes approx.)
- Y1-2: One-to-one child assessment of reading, phonics, numeracy and written English (30 minutes approx.)
- Y3-6: Written aptitude, Maths and English tests. Specialist assessment for children whose 1st language is not English
- Y7-11: Family interview with Vice / Assistant Principal. Written aptitude, Maths and English tests. Specialist assessment for children whose 1st language is not English. Thai language tests (reading and writing) for Thai Nationals
- Y12-13: Family interview with Vice / Assistant Principal. Review of formal evidence of public examination performance. Testing in subject specific areas as necessary.

7:30 (morning registration)

2:45 - Senior School, 2:20 Junior School (Except EY1 - 12:30). Students may select after school activities from Y1 upwards.

For Y1 upwards if necessary

The school has 2 dining halls. The Main dining hall, which is used by students from Y3 upwards, has direct views of the Chao Phraya River and offers a wide variety of nutritious and delicious meals and snacks throughout each school day. The menu rotates regularly and is often updated to introduce more variety. Students, teachers and staff all eat together in the dining hall.

The Pre-Prep dining hall is located within the Pre-Prep school and the children can choose their lunch every morning from an easy to use pictorial menu.

Extracurricular activities

Shrewsbury Riverside offers around 400 separate after school activity sessions every week. These include Excellence programmes in sport, music, drama and various academic extension programmes, plus a wide range of participatory activities through our You-Time programme - with activities ranging from coding to scouts to dance

Physical Education (including swimming) is a compulsory part of the Shrewsbury curriculum throughout the school
